  The 250,000 member Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, represents a wide range of union workers from teachers to technicians, public employees to painters, bus drivers to bricklayers, retail, auto, janitorial, utility, health care and construction workers. The Federation is the voice for the Long Island labor movement. It speaks on behalf of Long Island’s working families and its affiliated local unions to political leaders and legislative bodies at every level of government.   We proudly serve the hardworking brothers and sisters of Construction and Building Laborers’ Local 79, Asbestos, Lead, and Hazardous Waste Laborers’ Local 78, and LIUNA Residential Construction and General Service Workers’ Local 10.  Over 15,000 strong, these members are keenly aware of the importance of good training.  They routinely take full advantage of the courses the Fund offers, and regularly return for upgrade training.

LIUNA members are a skilled and experienced union workforce trained to work safely in the construction and energy industries. Members build infrastructure - from roads, bridges, and transit to schools and skyscrapers. They are certified to install rainwater catchment systems and trained to build water and sewer systems. Members also work in every area of the energy sector, helping to build solar plants, wind farms, and natural gas and oil pipelines, as well as, being skilled in the maintenance of nuclear and coal power plant facilities.
